Hi everyone! It’s been a really long time since I posted a blog. I’ve had a bunch of life changes happen since my last post. I graduated my masters program, moved into an apartment with my boyfriend, got a big girl job then we moved into a house 6 months later! A lot has happened in 2021, but I am so excited for what 2022 has in store for me!
I shared my 2021 skincare favorites post in Instagram but I wanted to add it into my blog and give my explanation as to why I love the product on my website for anyone interested! So here we go….In no specific order. PS: a majority of these products have been sent to me by the brand but I had no obligation to post this… I truly enjoy these products and have/would repurchase on my own!
BTW: if you click the product photo, I have linked the product to shop! (disclaimer: I used Shoplist to link the products. I do make a small commission if you purchase through my link).
I am not kidding when I say I have gone through about 7 or 8 of these. This product is AMAZING. It definitely is pricey but I totally think its worth it. The packaging is amazing. It’s called the bloom cream because to dispense the product you push down on the top and it dispenses the moisturizer in a shape of a flower (how cute)!
Its packed with some really good nourishing ingredients. The brands main target is people with sensitive skin. The texture is amazing, its thick and nourishing without being too heavy or greasy on the skin.
PRO TIP: try the Beekman 1802 Golden Booster & Dream Booster. They are serums you drop into the center of the moisturizer and swirl together to apply. It’s an amazing concept and the products are super gentle!
Snail mucin was a hot topic in 2021. It’s a soothing and hydrating lightweight “serumy” type ingredient. There are a few brands that use snail mucin but only a few do it well. This Peach Slices toner is an example of a product that uses snail mucin well. I personally like to use snail mucin in the toner form, since its a little more liquid-y and it won’t feel sticky. I used this religiously until I ran out and I always think about restocking but I just have so many products to get through.
Snail mucin is also known for its “skin healing” properties. If you are experiencing irritation, redness, dry skin, I definitely suggest looking into snail mucin products. It’s great for those with sensitive skin. This toner is also a really good price for what you’re getting!
Ugh I know what you are thinking… $166? Riley, are you serious? First I want to be completely transparent and let you know that the brand did gift me this product in exchange for a post on TikTok. Which I posted my TikTok, and even after my obligation was met, I still posted about it because it’s that good…
I used this just about every morning from July to the end of November. It lasted a really long time and never oxidized! My skin has never been happier, like ever. When I stopped using it I definitely was getting a few breakouts here and there. It may be totally unrelated but I think that my change of products in my routine had a little impact. If you head over to my Instagram, there is a guide of all my progress updates using Skinceuticals. I didn’t post that many but I truly think you could see a difference from the beginning to the end.
If I didn’t have a bunch of skincare products to test, specifically different vitamin c serum, I would definitely buy this to use again!
Is this just basically a spray bottle of water? Yup. Do I think its worth every penny? Absolutely. I love facial mists. I probably have about 3 in rotation right now. Ideally you could just splash a little water on your face or put some water in a spray bottle and make your own facial mist but I just don’t think it’s the same. This LRP thermal water is a fine mist that has a really nice spray range. It doesn’t leave huge droplets on your face of product. The brand has sent me a few of these but I have also restocked with my own money as well!
I personally like to use the facial mist before applying serums or for a refresh at the end of the day. This helps the serums absorb a little easier into the skin. Even if you don’t want to use a facial mist I still highly recommend applying your serums to a damp face. I also like to use facial mist before applying Aquaphor when I go to walk my dog in the cold.
I could go on about this product for days, it seems useless but I love having it in my routine. Some of my followers tell me they think of me when they see this product because of how much I talk about it. Seriously just try it out…it’ll change your skincare game.
Dry skin besties…this ones for you! If you aren’t using a facial oil at night, you’re doing skincare wrong. Not actually but they do help A LOT. Facial oils help seal in moisture and prevent moisture loss, aka no more dry flaky skin. It’s the best to use as your last step at night since it does get a little tricky applying during the day when SPF should be your last step.
I personally am a major fan of ceramide products, they help soothe the skin and repair your skin barrier. It’s a great ingredient for those with sensitive skin because it will calm irritated skin. This specific facial oil has been so great. It’s a pretty decent price considering how long it lasts and it feels so luxurious compared to other oils I’ve used. It also smells amazing, but the smell isn’t overpowering. It reminds me of a spa. I use about 2-3 drops at night to achieve that glazed donut look. In the morning my skin is happy and nourished! It doesn’t leave your skin feeling oily either which I know is a concern for some. Even if you don’t want to apply it last in your routine, you can mix in a few drops with your favorite moisturizer to still get all the benefits!
Sooo…
If you are still here, THANK YOU! I hope you found a product you want to test out or even just learned something new about how to use a product. I am really going to try to post more on my website in 2022 because I truly love being able to go in depth about a product or topic. Most of my other platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok I have been working on keeping content short and sweet to keep everyone engaged. But, I do know there are people who love to read blog posts out there! Make sure to follow my Instagram and TikTok @skinbyrileyb for ~mostly~ daily skincare, beauty, and lifestyle content!
