If you are a religious TikTok watcher like myself, your FYP (aka for you page) is most likely full of people trying the Dr. Jart Cicapair™ Color Correcting Treatment with SPF 30. If you haven’t heard of this product, basically it’s a green concealing product. The green color neutralizes red pigments in the skin! It’s a pretty cool concept and I used to use the Sephora Collection green concealer so, I was instantly intrigued. Naturally, I spent my money to save yours (if it’s not too late). Before I give you my raw opinion, I would like to preface this with one thing, if this product works for you…AMAZING! I am so happy for you and don’t stop using if you don’t want to! The thing I love about skincare is the fact that different things works for different people, and it’s not a one size fits all.
Also, if you are a follower of both of my Instagram & TikTok and are tired of hearing about this product, the rant is over after this, I promise. I just wanted a place where you could see my full thoughts without a time limit.
I have learned so much about skincare in the past year and a half and have been able to determine what works for my skin and what doesn’t. I’ve also learned ingredients and products to avoid in order to reduce texture and irritation. So after trying the Dr. Jart Color Correcting Treatment, I have some thoughts. If you follow my TikTok or my Instagram, first of all, thank you! But also, you most likely have heard me talk about this product! If not, here you go! I am going to talk about both things I didn’t like and the few things I did like.
LIKE: A little product goes a long way
This is my motto, oops. But really, this product does get you a lot for a small amount. I purchased the smaller size, which is 0.5 fl. oz (15 mL) for $18 and it probably would’ve taken me a few months to finish if I didn’t return it. I can’t even imagine how long it would take to get through the full size. I saw different ways to apply so I tried patting it in with a beauty blender and rubbing in with my fingers. I personally thought patting the product in was more effective. I put a small amount on my forehead and cheeks and didn’t have to add more.
DISLIKE: The ingredient list is almost a chapter book
Okay not actually, but this product has probably over 50 ingredients, I tried to count but I lost track. Literally. Although there are some good ingredients, I am not a fan of the majority of them. This product contains a bunch of essential oils which are not good for people with sensitive, dry, or acne prone skin. I’ve said this before but I don’t necessarily get irritated from fragrance or essential oils but I also haven’t used many products that contain it just to be safe. It also contains alcohol and colorants which also can sensitize skin. Please remember I am not a licensed esthetician or doctor, but I do my scientific research and one of my favorite websites to track ingredient lists is skincarisma.org.
One thing that also scared me is the fact that the ingredient list on the $18 container and the $52 container were different. That was just odd to me but maybe they have a reason.
LIKE: It worked…for me
A good thing about this product is it worked well for me. I have fairly clear skin and don’t have major hyperpigmentation, rosacea, scarring, or any other skin condition that can cause redness. So really the product didn’t have much to conceal. I polled my followers to see their reaction with this product and many said that it either made them look pale or left them with a green cast. My thoughts are that it will most likely not work for certain undertones. I have neutral undertones so maybe this is why it worked?
Disclaimer: I haven’t seen a POC use this product and I am unsure if it will work for their skin tone. I have heard from others that it may not as well. I haven’t seen a POC use this product, if you have used it yourself or know someone who has please let me know and I will update this! So, although it worked for me, it may not work for everyone unfortunately. I personally think if it doesn’t work well for POC, Dr. Jart should look into creating an inclusive product.
DISLIKE: How it felt on my face
I don’t know if it was the essential oils or some other ingredient but my face had this weird and uncomfortable cooling sensation that I didn’t like when I applied. It eventually went away but it did stress me out that I was going to be covered in hives. I felt like I doused my face in peppermint oil. I didn’t like that at all.
Throughout the day, I felt like it held up okay but my face felt a little oily in some spots but also dry. Not the best, but it’s fairly sheer so I couldn’t tell a dramatic change. A few of my followers noted that the seemed to highlight drier patches on their face. I personally didn’t use it long enough to realize this but with winter coming, I’m sure it would’ve done the same to me.
I honestly only used this product a few times, I was so concerned about breaking out or having a delayed reaction I decided to return the product. I do think the idea and marketing of this product is so cool (thanks TikTok) but I also am way too concerned with the ingredients and how my skin will react overtime to continue use. I didn’t end up having a breakout but I would prefer to use a BB cream to lightly conceal or CC Cream to color correct. The green concealer concept is cool but if you are sensitive, acne prone, dry, or have any other skin condition where you are easily irritated, I don’t recommend.
One perk of the product being green and not pigmented: it didn’t transfer to my mask throughout the day or transfer when I removed my makeup.
Final thoughts
Overall, I really was excited to try this product and was interested to see my final thoughts. I love being able to try products and give my opinions. I also love to hear my followers opinions on products to! Some of my followers use this product daily and love it. Others also had the same experience as me where they weren’t amused enough to keep it. If you are still interested, try it! I got the $18 one and returned it when I realized I didn’t like it. If I just saved you time and money, you’re welcome! Thanks for caring about my thoughts enough to get to the bottom of this post. I appreciate you!
